Last updated: July 2026

Property Finder Ltd (“PropertyFinder Mauritius”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your personal data. This policy explains how we collect, use and safeguard information when you use our website at propertyfinder.mu and our mobile application, PropertyFinder Mauritius, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play. We process personal data in accordance with the Mauritius Data Protection Act 2017.

1. Data We Collect

Depending on how you use our website and app, we may collect:

  • Account details — your name, email address and a securely hashed password when you create an account. We never store your password in plain text.
  • Enquiry & contact details — name, email and phone number you submit via enquiry or contact forms.
  • Preferences & activity — your saved (favourited) properties, saved searches and notification preferences, and your chosen language and currency.
  • Property listing data — if you list a property with us, the owner and property details you provide and any photographs you upload.
  • Electronic signature data — if you sign a rental or sale mandate electronically, your signature image together with the date, time, IP address and device information recorded to evidence the signature (see section 8).
  • Search queries — the questions you ask our AI property assistant (“Karen”), including any voice input you convert to text within the app.
  • Device & usage data — a push-notification token if you enable notifications, plus basic technical and analytics data collected via cookies (website) and standard app diagnostics.

Biometric login (Face ID / Touch ID / fingerprint) is optional in the app. Biometric authentication is handled entirely by your device’s operating system — we never receive, see or store your biometric data.

2. How We Use Your Data

  • To create and manage your account and keep you signed in securely
  • To respond to property enquiries and connect you with the relevant agent
  • To save your favourites, searches and preferences across your devices
  • To send push notifications and property alerts you have opted in to receive
  • To process property listings and generate and execute mandate agreements
  • To answer your questions through our AI property assistant
  • To improve our platform, and to comply with our legal obligations

3. Data Sharing & Service Providers

We do not sell your personal data. We share your data with property agents relevant to your enquiry, and with trusted service providers who process data on our behalf under data processing agreements:

  • Supabase — secure database, authentication and file storage hosting
  • Resend — delivery of transactional and mandate-related emails
  • Expo — delivery of push notifications to your device
  • Anthropic — processes the queries you send to our AI property assistant. Your queries are not used to train third-party AI models.

4. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law. Enquiry data is typically retained for 2 years. Executed mandate documents and their signature audit records are retained for the period required to meet our legal and contractual obligations. You can delete your account at any time (see section 6).

5. Your Rights

Under the Mauritius Data Protection Act 2017, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction or deletion of your data
  • Object to or restrict the processing of your data
  • Lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Office of Mauritius

6. Account & Data Deletion

You can delete your account and associated data directly from the app under Profile → Delete account, or request deletion via our Data Deletion page. On deletion we remove your account, favourites, saved searches and preferences, subject to records we are legally required to retain.

7. Children

Our website and app are intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

8. Electronic Signatures

Where you sign a rental or sale mandate electronically, your electronic signature is legally binding under the Electronic Transactions Act of Mauritius. To evidence the signature we record your signature image, the date and time, your IP address and a cryptographic hash of the signed document. A copy of the executed document is emailed to you.
